During the last few months, the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously affected the blood transfusion services, due to which there has been a huge reduction in voluntary blood donation. As per request of Dr. Meena Sidhu, Prof. & Head of PG Department of Blood Transfusion GMC Jammu, on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) a voluntary blood donation camp was organized with the help of Regional Wives Welfare Association (RCWA), GC Jammu in the CRPF camp premises on 13/08/2021. The chief guest Smt. Kavita Ranpise, President RCWA, inaugurated the voluntary blood donation camp. Smt. Karuna Samyal acting president of RCWA Jammu Sector and eminent women members of the J&K Zone, Jammu Sector and RCWA, GC Jammu were present. In this occasion guest of honour Shri P.S. Ranpise, IPS, IGP Jammu Sector was also present.
In a statement issued to mercury times, blood is the gift of life and it saves thousands of lives every day. In order to save precious lives, a voluntary blood donation camp organised in able supervision of Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIGP, GC CRPF Jammu. In this occasion Gazetted Officers, Jawans and their families of J&K Zone, Jammu Sector, CH Jammu, B/5 Signal BN, AWS-IV and Offices/Unites under Jammu Sector, Ops North Jammu, Range Jammu, Range Hiranagar, GC Hiranagar, GC Jammu, 38 BN, 76 BN, 84 BN, 160 & 166 BN have donated blood, so that the life of the patients in need of blood could be saved.
Senior Officer, Subordinate Officers and Jawans of various offices/BNs of the CRPF in Jammu region were present in this occasion. This blood donation camp was organized with the help of medical officer from Govt. Medical College, Jammu and Composite Hospital, CRPF Jammu.
