The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has always been committed to its primary objective of maintaining internal security as well as social responsibilities. The relation of human civilization with plants is from the very beginning of its birth. Trees are helpful in maintaining our environmental balance. In a statement issued to mercury times, they have an important place in our economy and life. In this sequence, as per the directions of Directorate General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), New Delhi, a mega plantation drive has been started w.e.f 5 June ,2021 on “World Environment Day” by “Group Center, CRPF, Jammu” and under this program “Mega Tree Plantation Drive-2021” was conducted on 12th August 2021 at “Ghanik ranjan, Gharota (Jammu)”, in which 1100 saplings were planted. On this occasion the Chief Guest Mr. Mohit Gera, Indian Forest Service, PCCF, Forest Department Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) and special guest Mr. P.S. Ranpise, IPS, Inspector General, Jammu Sector, CRPF, Jammu were planted saplings of the peepal.
In this whole drive of Mega plantation drive, Sh. Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIG, Group Center CRPF Jammu, has been appointed as “Sector Nodal Officer” under whose stewardship a target of planting 90,000 saplings was assigned. However, more than the assigned target, a total of 93,000 saplings have been planted by Jammu based offices/Battalions of Central Reserve Police Force. During plantation drive mainly trees Peepal, Banyan, Acacia Keran, Jackfruit, Ashoka, Arjun, Mahua, Gulmohar, Bottlebrush, Kher Darak, Neem, Bamboo, Gullar, Tamarind, Sarni, Tunnu, Ber, Curry leaves, Kadam, Symbal, Sarni, Trees like Jamoon, Amla, Keshav, Kanchan, Hartaki etc. were planted in districts of Jammu region. On this occasion, Shri Madan Mohan Jha, Director, Central Sanskrit University, Kotbhalwal, Jammu, senior officers of Forest Department and all Officers, subordinate officers & Jawans of CRPF actively participated in the plantation drive. Sufficient quantity of saplings were made available by the Forest Department, Jammu to make this tree plantation campaign a success.
