The Gulmarg fashion show controversy has now reached the court. A Srinagar court has issued notices to two designers and the editor-in-chief of ELLE India. They have been accused of spreading obscenity, hurting religious sentiments and drinking alcohol in public in Gulmarg during the month of Ramzan. The next hearing will be on April 8.
Adil Nazir Khan has filed a complaint in the court regarding the fashion show. He has demanded action from the court against the organizers who served obscenity. The hearing was done by Special Mobile Magistrate Faizan-e-Nazar and taking cognizance of the matter, notice has been issued. At the same time, the court has said that according to the provision of sub-section (1) of section 223 BNSS, 2023, it is also mandatory to hear the accused. Regarding this, instructions have been issued to the accused related to the case to appear in the court. The next hearing has been fixed on April 8.
A fashion show was organized in Gulmarg last week. The matter got heated when its pictures went viral on social media. The people and leaders of Kashmir expressed their displeasure over this. The matter also echoed in the House during the budget session. The organizers were accused of spreading obscenity in the Kashmir valley during the month of Ramzan. On this, CM Omar Abdullah ordered an inquiry into the matter. Now the matter is in court.
