Jammu, March 7:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday presented Jammu and Kashmir’s first budget after six years. He described it as a roadmap for economic development and a true reflection of people’s aspirations. Presenting the budget in the assembly, CM Omar Abdullah thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their support in various sectors.
I am happy to present the first budget as the Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a roadmap for economic development and a true reflection of the aspirations of the people,” said CM Abdullah.
CM Omar began his budget speech with a Persian poem.
This budget is the first after the National Conference government came to power in October last year, ending six years of central rule. Article 370 was repealed from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, and the last budget session under the PDP-BJP government was held in 2018.
Chief Minister Abdullah told the House that our challenges are huge and our limitations are many, but we must unite and resolve to face these challenges boldly.
