Jammu, December 25:
Passenger vehicles will travel in Jammu and Kashmir from January 1 in the new year. The state government has increased the fare by 18 percent. Due to this, passengers will have to pay more from Rs 11 to 72 on inter-district routes. In Jammu city, fare of up to nine rupees will have to be paid for three kilometres.
The hike in passenger fares was agreed upon after a meeting between the All Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Welfare Association and officials of the financial department. In the year 2021, the government had increased passenger fares by 19 percent. Now, five years later, there is an increase of 18 percent. With this, the bus fare from Jammu to Katra may be Rs 11, to Kathua to Rs 23, from Jammu to Katra by Rs 11, to Kathua by Rs 23 and to Srinagar by Rs 72.

In Jammu, an increase of Rs 2 for every three km may go up to Rs 54 till Kishtwar. Now the transport department will issue the notification. After this, the State Transport Authority (STA) will release the rates of passenger fares.
