Jammu, February 16:
On Sunday, locals protested at Tara Chowk in Bishnah by burning tyres demanding the death penalty for the rapist of the girl.
Along with this, angry people also beat up the accused Arjun Lakhotra, who is in police custody, with shoes and slippers in the district hospital.
A three-and-a-half-year-old girl was raped on Saturday. The police had arrested the 27-year-old accused, Arjun Lakhotra, in connection with the case.
Angry people were protesting at Tara Chowk after this incident. Meanwhile, it was found that the police have brought the accused to the district hospital for medical examination.
On this, the local youth reached the district hospital. The police rescued the accused from the people who were beating him.
Police station in-charge Deepak Thakur appealed to the people to exercise restraint and instructed them not to take the law into their hands. The police station in-charge explained to them that the police will leave no stone unturned to punish the accused severely.
The people of Bishnah are filled with grief and anger over what happened to the three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Sunday morning began with skepticism and resentment. There was no daily hustle and bustle in the village.
