Baramulla, May 17:
The electoral equations seem to be changing in Baramulla Lok Sabha seat of North Kashmir. Both the sons of Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) candidate Engineer Rashid have jumped into the election campaign. Whether the crowd gathering at his rallies will convert into votes or not will be known only on June 4. At present, the contest here seems to be triangular. From Baramulla Lok Sabha seat, Omar Abdullah of NC (National Conference) and Sajjad Lone of People’s Conference (PC) are already showing their strength in the election field.
Abrar and Asrar, sons of engineer Rashid, who is lodged in Tihar jail, are seeking votes for him and are holding rallies and road shows at different places daily. Although traditional political issues are not being raised in his election campaign, he is still trying to garner people’s sympathy towards his father. The election campaign of Engineer Rashid’s sons has definitely caused some concern to the People’s Conference and the National Conference.
Abrar Rasheed (24) and Asrar Rasheed (20) are currently studying. Being young, both are connecting with the youth. While campaigning in Budgam, Abrar said that only youth can bring change in the society and the association of youth with us is a good sign. Our father is in jail and you all also have someone in jail. Our Father can understand the pain of all of you.
Abrar and Asrar Rashid are struggling with lack of resources but many volunteers are helping them. Abrar said that people are providing us whatever is needed for publicity.
