In Continuation to its drive against the menace of illicit trade of liquor, District Police Samba arrested a bootlegger and recovered 50 bottles of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of PS Vijaypur.
Acting on reliable information regarding the sale of illicit liquor at Vijaypur town and in its adjoining areas, a Police Party of PS Vijaypur laid a special naka near Mini Bus-Stand, Ramgarh road, Vijapur and intercepted a pesron who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During frisking of the said person, a total 50 bottles of JK special Whisky (180 ml each) were recovered from his possession.
The accused person identified as Ramesh Chander S/o Multani Ram R/O Ward No. 12 Vijaypur has been arrested on spot and the contraband item (illicit liquor) which he used to sell to the general public of Vijapur and its adjoining areas at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 167/2020 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
