Congress organizes one day workers convention at Khour
Jammu, November 7:
Congress today organized one day workers convention at Khour organized by Satish Sharma which was presided over by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla alongwith AICC Jt. Secretary Co-Incharge J&K Affairs, Manoj Yadav, General Secretary PCC Yogesh Sawhney, Ravinder Sharma, District Rural President Hari Singh Chib, JKPYC President Uday Bhanu Chib. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Jatin Vishist, Uttam Singh, Praveen Kumar BDC Chairman, Kuldeep Verma, Prem Singh, Capt Sham, Kuldeep Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Naresh Kumar, Anirudh Awhney, Vijay Singh, Suraj Singh, Tarsem Choudhary, Babu Ram, Madan Mohan, Vikram Singh, Mannu Sharma, Vishal Buvra Vijay Kumar, Bachhan Singh, Sarpanch Sham Lal Verma and others and was attended by scores of Congress workers from the area. Many burning issues were discussed during the day-long convention by the Congress workers and unanimously passed a resolution for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress workers present in the convention expressed their views and discussed about the program of campaign that the workers should launch regarding the preparation of upcoming Assembly elections. The workers discussed the functioning of the party at booth level keeping in mind the recent changes that has emerged in the political circles of J&K.
While addressing the workers, Bhalla urged upon the Central government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with job and land security for the locals. He said that J&K has witnessed massive destruction during decade’s long turmoil and rising unemployment is a major concern. He urged upon the government to secure jobs of Jammu and Kashmir for local youth.He also demanded special employment package for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it is the duty of the government to address the unemployment issue immediately.He lambasted previous BJP government in the state for exploiting the daily wagers in various departments for not fulfilling their long time pending genuine demands. He said due to callous and non-serious attitude of governments families of daily wagers across J&K are facing a starvation-like situation.
Bhalla termed Back to Village programme by J&K administration as a futile exercise and accused BJP for weakening grass roots democracy under the garb of the ‘Back to Village’ programme and using bureaucracy to fulfill their political motives as Govt has failed miserably to fulfill the promises made to the general masses.He asked the party activists and block functionaries to gear up their activities in view of coming Assembly elections.He said that all the BCC functionaries must reach up to the people in their respective areas and project their issues. They should also extend their activities in view of upcoming Assembly elections.He said that people are now fed up of the BJP lead dictatorial regime. Common man was suffering in the hands of the administration which has adopted an adamant behaviour and is working on the lines which is completely anti- public.He also highlighted issue of various roads of the constituency which are in dilapidated condition and urged upon the administration of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to pay urgent attention as public is suffering badly.
Bhalla said that unemployment and inflation in Jammu and Kashmir is all time high which has pushed people towards starvation. He said that the financial health of the people is getting worse with every passing day.Congress has always played the role of unifying force in sensitive J&K, having regional, religious and linguistic and cultural diversities and at times has suffered electoral losses also because of the capabilities of rival parties to exploit different kinds of emotions of the people,” he said.He said people should not get carried away by the negative forces who are trying to create division and hatred in the State. Former Minister demanded special recruitment in army and other central paramilitary forces for the border area people. He hit out at the BJP for misleading people on every count just to attain power but didn’t care about urges and aspirations of the people. He also criticized the ruling government for its failure to provide basic amenities to the people of Khour. He asserted that the people of Khour constituency are suffering due to power scarcity, shortage of ration supply and potable water.He also expressed gratitude to the former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh under whose tenure the J&K had received massive funds.
Addressing the gathering, Manoj Yadav said that Congress Party will defeat the designs of anti-peace forces vitiating atmosphere to serve their vested interests. He said Congress Party will remain committed to defeat the designs of communal forces and committed to safeguard the age old tradition of unity, diversity and communal harmony in J&K, adding that Congress Party is capable enough to defeat the communal and fascist forces creating wedge between the communities to serve their vested interests.He said that BJP’s unilateral decisions have added to the long prevailing political instability and alienation in the region besides violating the spirit of federalism in the country. The party rank and file in J&K, he said, stands behind people of J&K in its ongoing efforts for the protection of the identity of Jammu and Kashmir. We will not allow BJP and its B teams to erode J&K political and cultural identity. Nothing can rescue BJP and its local proxies. People will teach them a lesson in the elections, whenever they are held. People across JK have made it a point to register as voters and punish BJP and its B teams democratically through ballot,” he added.Calling the delimitation commission report travesty of the principle of one man one vote, he said, people of J&K will defeat the sinister objectives of BJP. “Having failed to change the ground realities through biased delimitation, BJP and its B teams are trying to grab power through the back door,” he added.
Yogesh Sawhney in his address said that performance of BJP Government in the last 8 years has been poor on all fronts. Inflation has skyrocketed, because of which the lives of the common man have been seriously impacted, unemployment rate is the highest in 45 years. With the rupee depreciating sharply, the economy is crumbling, Sawhney said and alleged that in the last eight years, Modi’s industrialist friends have caused a lot of damage to the public through privatisation of key public assets.The wrong policies of the Modi Government have stifled foreign investment in the country and the companies that had invested in India have also gone bankrupt. Demonetization and faulty implementation of GST destroyed small, medium and small traders. The Modi Government in the last eight years has only used the central machinery to silence the leaders of the opposition. Attempts were made to create a rift in the society and cause communal divide just like the divide and rule policy of the British,” claimed Swhney.
Ravinder Sharma observed the LG Administration has failed on all fronts and the BJP is insensitive towards the problems of the youth. Law and order, education and health are in very bad shape. There is resentment among people and the youths are angry. This is because the attitude of the BJP towards the problems of the youth is insensitive.”The youth raises its voice, but the police wields a cane to silence his voice. Now, no one believes in the hollow claims made to the youth about providing jobs ,” he said. The country is reminded again and again of the eight failures of the BJP Government including rising inflation, high unemployment, suppression of democracy, failure to safeguard National security, hate politics, historic fall of the Rupee, economic collapse and erosion of social fabric,” said Sharma
Satish Sharma in his address said that it was claimed that BJP’s decisions will bring peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. “But even after eight years , we do not see any new development, employment and economy improvement. There is no visage of good governance,” he added. He said they were speaking about massive industrialization but the reality on ground is completely different. “Not a new industry has come here. Our own handicrafts and other small scale industries are on the verge of collapse. The governance is confined to photo-ops and shoddy propaganda,” he said adding, “There is no space for any voice, critical of the government’s action. Our DDC members, and functionaries are being confined to their places. Silence has been achieved on all dissent.”
