The month-long plantation drive being organized by the BJP Mahila Morcha to make Jammu ‘Clean and Green’ is in full swing and thousands of saplings have been planted so far across the district.
As a part of an ongoing plantation drive which started on July 27 and will conclude on August 27, the saplings were planted on Wednesday at Sant Kabir Park at Lower Roop Nagar.
The programme was organized by Mahila Morcha State Incharge Reema Padha on direction of State President Mahila Morcha Sanjita Dogra.
“The plantation drive was started on Vanmahotsava last month and the drive will conclude on August 27,” Reema Padha said. She said that throughout the monthlong drive,thousands of saplings of fruit plants, ornamental, herbal, were planted to make Jammu Clean and Green.
She also said that Global Warming is on the rise across the world and only plantation of plants and trees can save Mother Earth and nature.
“We should pledge to at least plant one plant and should not wait for the governments to contribute but play our role,” she added.
Former Minister Bali Bhagat speaking on the occasion congratulated Reema Padha for the plantation drive and also lauded BJP Mahila Morcha for being concerned over global warming and changing environment.
“We can collectively save our planet and for this every human being has to contribute its share by planting trees,” Bali Bhagat said.
Jammu Municipal Corporation Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta also appreciated the efforts of Mahila Morcha who hv planted thousands of tress across Jammu Province including 75 wards of Jammu and expressed that JMC will leave no stone unturned in making Jammu Clean and Green.
On the occasion,more than 100 fruit saplings were planted, which were sponsored by Sunil Gupta, Signature Nursery, Trikuta Nagar.
Others present on the occasion included State Vice President,Prabhari Anurdha Charak, State Secretary, Seh Prabhari Veenu Khanna, Mandal President Suresh Khajuria, Mahila Morcha Vice President Anita Gandotra, Secretary Vaishno Sharma, Treasurer Anuradha Sharma, Office Secretary Suman Raina, Publicity incharge Meenakshi Jamwal and Sudesh Sharma.
