BJP Govt insensitive towards problems of J&K people: Bhalla

Hoodwinking gullible people with false commitments hallmark of BJP Govt

Jammu, August 6: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today launched a scathing attack on the BJP government, alleging that every section of the society is fed up with this “anti-people” dispensation. He urged the people of J&K to get rid of the “anti-people” BJP government in J&K in the next Assembly polls. Interacting with prominent persons of  Bhour Pind area of Gandhi Nagar constituency, former Minister said that BJP has dismayed and disappointed people of J&K besides exposing their hallow and false commitment to their slogans always used by them to hoodwink the people. He called on Congress workers to take the message of party president Sonia Gandhi to every village and town in J&K, and told them to prepare for Pad Yatra, “which would be a movement for bringing back the lost glory of the state”. Prominent among those  present on the occasion include Refugees Cell Vice-Chairman Amrit Bali, Gurmeet Kour ,Pawan Bhagat,  Kapoor Lal Dogra, Sohan Lal, Retd. Insp Ashok Kumar, Sham Lal, Rash Pal, Sunil Slathia, Abhijot Bhagat, Bobby, Harsh, Sushil, Rahul, Bablu, Ravi Kumar,  Raj Kumari NC Block ward president Bhour Pind lady wing joining Congress party with their supporters namely Mamta Devi, Ritu Kumari, Leela Devi, Neelam Kumari,  Vimla Devi, Sudesh Kumari,  Santosh Kumari, Pyari Devi, beside others.

Addressing large number women, Bhalla appealed government to acknowledge the problem of rising inflation affecting the poor in India in order to fix it. He said there has been a constant increase in prices of essential commodities in the last eight years of Modi government. Despite record foodgrains, it is tragic testimony that farmers are fighting to get better prices and consumers are weighed down by high prices, he said, adding that the government should have distributed the surplus stock to the poor through the public distribution system (PDS). Imposition of GST on pre-packed food items has further put burden on the poor. The government should tax the rich not the poor, he said and added there was no unanimous decision in the GST Council on this issue. He  said rising prices of essential commodities coupled with imposition of GST on pre-packed food items, which was not agreed by Opposition in the GST Council, and unemployment is affecting the poor badly. On top of it, rupee appreciation has put pressure on the economy, he said. About 29 per cent of youth are jobless in India. Subsidy on cooking gas has come down, but not the retail prices,” he said and sought the finance minister to respond to these issues.

Raman Bhalla claimed that the Modi Government in the last 8 years has failed on all fronts and there was no place for democracy and the Constitution.“The country is reminded again and again of the eight failures of the BJP Government including rising inflation, high unemployment, suppression of democracy, failure to safeguard National security, hate politics, historic fall of the Rupee, economic collapse and erosion of social fabric,” said Bhalla. The JKPCC leader said that performance of BJP Government in the last 8 years has been poor on all fronts. Inflation has skyrocketed, because of which the lives of the common man have been seriously impacted, unemployment rate is the highest in 45 years. With the rupee depreciating sharply, the economy is crumbling, Bhalla said and alleged that in the last eight years, Modi’s industrialist friends have caused a lot of damage to the public through privatisation of key public assets.

The wrong policies of the Modi Government have stifled foreign investment in the country and the companies that had invested in India have also gone bankrupt. Demonetization and faulty implementation of GST destroyed small, medium and small traders. The Modi Government in the last eight years has only used the central machinery to silence the leaders of the opposition. Religious issues like temples and mosques were raked up to sidestep the more real and urgent issues. Attempts were made to create a rift in the society and cause communal divide just like the divide and rule policy of the British,” claimed Bhalla.

Bhalla observed the LG Administration has failed on all fronts and the BJP is insensitive towards the problems of the youth. Law and order, education and health are in very bad shape. There is resentment among people and the youths are angry. This is because the attitude of the BJP towards the problems of the youth is insensitive.”The youth raises its voice, but the police wields a cane to silence his voice. Now, no one believes in the hollow claims made to the youth about providing jobs ,” he said.“The government’s tenure is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfil the promises given to the nation and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed. This government till now has singularly lacked the vision to galvanise economic growth and has chosen instead to create a smokescreen making boastful claims,” said Bhalla.

He  said that Bhartiya Janta Party has put Jammu and Kashmir in a situation of uncertainty with failure on all fronts of governance and administration terming grim state of affairs in health, education, power, surface connectivity sectors as clear references of failure. He  said that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a stage of uncertainty and this all has been done by BJP which has failed on all fronts of governance and administration. He said, “you go anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir and see people on protest with their demands remaining unsolved in administrative setup. There are protests by daily wagers, by selected candidates of FAA recruitment, by people demanding better roads and other basic amenities and these protests are going on in almost every area of Jammu and Kashmir which shows a grim situation in terms of administration and governance and BJP is responsible for it. ” He said that having failed to give employment to a huge percentage of educated unemployed youth, the Centre and the J&K administration were beating about the bush and finding faults in the past governments.

The BJP only knows to blow trumpets but does nothing,” he added. The BJP led NDA Government has betrayed and cheated the refugees of 1947, 1965 & 1971 from PoK and those from West Pakistan. Bhalla said that the package of one time settlement of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 comprising financial assistance/ex-gratia relief of Rs 25 lakhs per family amounting to over Rs 9000 crore alongwith several other concessions including reservation to their wards was recommended by the previous Congress-NC Coalition Government to the Centre, after hot pursuit by the Congress and various organization of refugees. He said BJP which promised to ensure one time settlement of refugees from PoK including those from Chhamb area, besides promising citizenship to West Pakistan refugees before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, has betrayed them. Soon after coming to power, the Modi Government had returned the package to the State Government without any reason, adding insult to their injuries. Bhalla pointed out that the package of ex-gratia recommended by the Congress-NC Govt for the PoK refugee families alone was to the extent of over 9000 crores but the present Centre Government failed to grant the same.
