Jammu, August 12:
A joint anti-suicide mock drill was conducted at the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra on Wednesday. It is to strengthen the security arrangements ahead of Independence Day.
The police, CRPF and the Army took part in the mock drill which was supervised by an SP-level officer.
The Reasi district police, Special Operations Group (SOG), CRPF and the Army’s medium regiment jointly participated in the operation.
During the mock drill, a terrorist threat-like situation was created in the base camp. Security agencies drilled procedures such as immediate approach, cordon off and search of the area and others.
The response of the fire and emergency services in the event of a fire or other emergency was also tested.
The main objective of the mock drill was to strengthen better coordination between various agencies and joint action to deal with any unforeseen security challenges.
