Jammu, June 10:
The Indri-Pattan bridge on the Chenab river near the international border in Akhnoor sector will be completed by the end of 2025. This bridge is extremely important from the strategic point of view. It will not only pave the way for development and prosperity in over 40 border villages. It will also strengthen the position and reach of the Indian Army in Akhnoor and Planwala sectors.
This bridge will be the longest bridge to be built on any river in North India. Its length is about two and a quarter kilometers. The only road connecting the border Pargal to the Jammu-Akhnoor highway, Sua Number-One, serves as a lifeline for the people. In case of heavy shelling by Pakistan, the population of 25-30 thousand is cut off from other parts of the state.
This problem will also be solved by the construction of this bridge. This bridge is being built between Indri-Pattan and Pargal near Sajwal on Chenab river. The span of this double lane bridge is 1640 meters.
