ammu Kashmir Weather: Chances of heavy rain and snowfall on Mahashivratri, yellow alert in many districts

Srinagar, February 24:
There are chances of heavy rain and snowfall in the state on Mahashivratri. According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, the weather will be worse in some areas between 25 and 28 February. Yellow alert has been issued in many districts.
In case of heavy snowfall, Sadhna Pass, Rajdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumiri, Mughal Pass, Sinthan Pass and connecting roads in hilly areas may be affected. Air services may also be affected. In the prone areas, incidents of landslides and stone falling from the mountains may occur in bad weather. The administration has been asked to strengthen emergency management.
In view of the upcoming western disturbance, farmers have been advised to postpone farming and irrigation related activities during the said period. Tourists, passengers and transporters have been advised to travel under the advisory of the administration and traffic department. The weather will remain changeable in the beginning of March as well. Before this, there was a period of dry weather for about three months. In the upcoming season, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, Kishtwar, Shopian, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Udhampur may receive rainfall of 64.5 to 115.4 mm amid yellow alert.
