Samba, October 26:
Continuing its drive against the drug smuggling and its propagators, Samba Police today effected the recovery of 08 kg of Charas after arresting the drug peddler near SIDCO Chowk in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba.
A Police Party of PP SIDCO Samba, while performing patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area noticed a stranded truck bearing Regd. No. JK01P-8713 which was wrongly parked near SIDCO Chowk, Samba. When the said patrolling party was about to approach the truck, the driver of the said truck accelerated the speed and tried to flee away from the spot. But the alert cops intercepted the truck at a few metres distance.
During checking of the said vehicle, a total of 08 kilograms of Charas like substance was recovered from the cabin of said truck. The accused person identified as driver Mohd. Iqbal Bhat S/o Ghulam Hasan Bhat R/O Pazalpora, Bijbehara has been arrested on spot and contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 280/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation has been started.
